Welcome to Make a Saving Throw a blog dedicated to movie reviews with a role playing twist. I am J. Edwin Stevens the Level20Artist, gaming, roleplaying, comic book illustrator, and movie buff extraordinaire.
My passion for roleplaying games and movies has always had a profound reflection on my life and my art. I am a true fan of a well put together story that is conveyed through beautiful art direction. Sadly though more often than not some movies have a lot of potential but just seem to miss the mark. That is why I decided to create this blog to convey my true impressions of movies especially those that are overrated and those that do not get the attention they deserve.
There are three different types of reviews you will see on this site. And they are as follows;
Perception Roll:
This type of review will be done for upcoming films. Ones that all that is known of it are basic synopsis and a few trailers. It is in this type of review I will examine and explore what will come out of a movie how good I think it looks and what I expect to to be. Basically me trying to play psychic.
Immediate Reaction:
This is a reactionary review. This will be the type of review I give right after seeing a movie. This will entail my first impressions of a film and what I truly thought of it.
Saving Throw:
This kind of review will be usually be much longer and in depth. These type of reviews will be done to truly analyze a film. This kind of review will most likely be accompanied by screen captures and much longer rants. These reviews will go extremely deep to get to the core of the film to ultimately decide if it made it's saving throw or not.
Along with my analysis of movies expect my love of D&D to show up in how I review. For example a movie may get a plus to their saving throw because of one actors particular performance. That is right I will add modifiers.
On a final note my reviews will rate movies between 1-20. Why? because I roll 20 sided dice.
I hope you have enjoyed this introduction. Now get ready to roll.
